Porta Fira Towers in Barcelona

Architect: Toyo Ito
Ownership: Realia and Santos Hotels
Construction company: FCC

The Porta Fira Towers project was conceived after winning the bid for the extension of Fira Barcelona. Located between El Prat Airport and the city, these towers make the most of their strategic position and have become the gateway to the Catalan capital.

Designed by the great Toyo Ito, it consists of two 110-meter-tall towers: an orthogonal tower housing offices and a circular tower featuring the Porta Fira Hotel. The latter lacks a main façade, offers endless views from different angles and won the 2010 Emporis Award for the Best Skyscraper.

Of course, both are already part of Barcelona’s local skyline (in its own right).

We have installed several lifts in this iconic place, such as 6 Mitsubishi high-speed NexWay systems, which are ideal for maintaining the vertical growth rate of cities. They reach 4 metres/second!
