In general, lifts are powered by the building’s power supply line (in fact, they usually have a separate dedicated switchboard). Therefore, a cut in the building’s power supply would cause the lift to stop. In this case, the cabin would stop, either on one floor or between two levels.
To be rescued, the passenger inside the cabin would have to press the emergency button (the one with the traditional bell). But this is also an electrical element. So, will the phone work if the power in the building is out?
Let’s start at the beginning…
What happens if the power goes out in a lift?
If the power goes out in a lift, there is a two-way communication system in the lift itself.
It is more than advisable for your lift to have a two-way communication system between your cabin and your lift maintenance company. This way, if you get stuck, you can always contact a telephone operator to request a technician to come to your rescue.
As we explained in another article on coverage inside a lift, you will usually not have coverage inside the cabin, so you will not be able to call from your mobile phone.
In the case of contracting this service with us, you will enjoy important ADVANTAGES:
- You can contact us at any time. As you know, we are #AlwaysAvailable; that is, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- With your call, our operators will geolocate your machine. So even if you don’t know the exact address (for example, if you’re visiting a relative or friend), we’ll know which cabin you’re calling from.
- Legal regulations require automatic testing of a lift call system at least every 72 hours, we do it every 12 hours!
- In addition, during the maintenance visit, our technicians perform a communication establishment test, with and without power, to test the battery status. This test is recorded for quality control purposes and, with full transparency, our customers will be able to access these recordings on request.
- If we talk about cost, you should know that our digital line has a fixed monthly cost, no matter how many times you call.
Lift cabin autonomy in the event of power failure
Can you imagine being locked out and the two-way communication system not working because you have chosen to contract a conventional line? You’d better not even think about it!
At ILS we are committed to the digital line. Thanks to it, you don’t have to worry if the power has gone out and you’ve been caught inside the cabin. You will be trapped, but you will be able to get in touch with us to let us know, thanks to ILS’s two-way communication system:
- A set of batteries that give you more than 2 hours of power (if new, we have found that the autonomy can be extended up to 6 hours).
In addition, we have the advantage that, when 80% of the battery has been consumed, the system sends an alert to our Customer Service Centre. The teleoperator generates a warning to the technician in the area so that he can replace the battery on his next visit.
Lift rescues in within 1 hour
Did you know that, if you get stuck, we commit to rescue you within an hour from the moment you report it? This is one of our 10 commitments to our clients.
Year after year we closely monitor their achievement in order to discern whether any of them need to be modified.
Each of these commitments is accompanied by a service index that the different machines involved measure on a daily basis. This is possible thanks to technology, our 2.0 technicians and the important role of our Customer Service Centre.
If you are looking for a serious and honest service company, and a safe, connected, and entrapment-proof lift, you are in the right place!
